Speed reading is a skill that can come in very handy, especially these days when people are constantly bombarded with information that needs to be understood. Developing speed reading skills is very much like any skill one wants to master, in that one must practice the techniques on a regular basis. This can be particularly challenging for people who must read in their work or school, because during the period when the new skills are not developed, it is tempting to lean on old reading habits. This can slow down the progress of integrating the new reading methods, but is worth the effort in the end if you want to speed your read!
